How to Have Difficult Conversations at End of Life
End of Life conversations are never easy. The timing, context and the needed individuals present during these types of conversations must be balanced with the spiritual, cultural and psychosocial needs and preferences of the patient and family in order to have the most successful and thoughtful conversations. Many patients do not experience these types of conversations until deep into their treatment and when the EOL time period is critical which can be detrimental to the patient and their loved ones. During this presentation, participants will learn the ins and outs of having these types of conversations, gain skills in working with medical teams through this time period, and hear from the husband of a patient who experienced EOL firsthand.
